Bombers hold off Lancers

WESTFIELD – Westfield pitcher Nikki Clemente scattered five hits, allowed three runs (two earned), struck out one batter and walked three, and the Bombers clubbed 10 hits en route to a narrow 4-3 win over visiting Longmeadow Tuesday.
Lindsay Kiltonic led the Westfield hit attack. Kiltonic went 2-for-3 a triple, walk, and two RBIs.

Casey Almeida also went 2-for-3 for Westfield with a walk. Bombers’ Brit Kowalski (double, run scored) Morgan Zabielski (run), Clemente (run), Grace Barnes (RBI), Sam Schieppe, and Kelsey Kiltonic each had one hit.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Phillips, Spartans down WHS
East Longmeadow 9, Westfield 7

Lindsey Phillips netted five goals and one assist, and the East Longmeadow Spartans outlasted the host Westfield Bombers.
Hannah Jarvis (2 goals, 2 assists) and Rachel Gelina (2 goals, 1 assist) led Westfield.

Butler, Watson net hat tricks
Chicopee Comp 12, St. Mary 7

Sarah Taylor (4 goals) and Kaylee Krajewski (3 goals, 2 assists) led Chicopee Comp. Aisling Butler and Jillian Watson recorded hat tricks for St. Mary.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Bombers sweep Rams
Westfield def. Southwick 25-8, 25-16, 25-21

Andrew Burrage (5 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs), Ryan Murray (5 kills, 1 ace, 6 digs), Scott Walsh (26 assists, 2 aces, 4 digs), Tyler Stanton (21 digs), and Noah Kappel (5 kills, 3 blocks) helped Westfield sweep Southwick.

BASEBALL
Gators win thriller
Gateway 5, Lee 4

Josh Webster (walk, run), Brett Turban (run, RBI), and Joe Jones (RBI) collected two hits apiece for Gateway, which scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Gators rallied for three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-all.
Jayden Marge (hit, run, RBI), Heeter (hit, 2 walks, 2 runs), Brian Battles (double, RBI), and Trevor Bruno (hit) also contributed offensively for Gateway.
Gateway pitcher Brett Turban allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of work, striking out three batters. Joe Jones tossed a two-hitter with five Ks.

Falcons swoop past Bombers

Sean Murphy and Sean Moorhouse each went 1-for-3 for Westfield, which fell on the road.
