PITTSFIELD – The Berkshires-based 1 Berkshire presents a one-day conference on Thursday at the Hotel on North in downtown Pittsfield. The one-day professional development event will be of particular interest to artists and creative industries artisans and crafts people, particularly those working in the theatre.
Matt Stinchcomb of Etsy.org offers the keynote address. There will be six panels offered which will cover a wide range of topics including space, marketing, finding collaborators (and getting the most from internship and apprenticeship programs), insurance, retirement, and budgeting. There will also be offering three hands-on workshops about developing a visual identity, grant writing, and auditioning. Some of the panelists include Sue Killam of Mass MoCA; Todd Trebour of the Arts Extension Service at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Diane Pearlman of the Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative, Kristen vab Ginhoven of WAM Theatre, casting director Alan Filderman, Tristan Wilson of Barrington Stage, and Michael Ibrahim of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
“This event is a great opportunity both for nonprofit performing arts groups, as well as actors,” said Julia Dixon, Creative Economy Specialist at 1Berkshire. “The auditioning workshop is something we are extremely excited about – and is a great opportunity for actors in western Massachusetts to get tips from a seasoned casting director”.
The conference includes breakfast, lunch, and an admission to a post-conference cocktail reception at the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield.
Tickets are $95 general admission and $85 for members of 1 Berkshire. For event details: http://www.1berkshire.com/creative-resources-conference/
