Area members of the Stonewall Stable Mane Attraction 4-H Club spent Saturday, April 20, at the MSPCA Nevins Farm Equine Rescue Center in Methuen, where twenty-two surrendered horses await adoption. This 55-acre animal care complex is the largest MSPCA adoption facility in Massachusetts, and it is the organization’s only facility to shelter unwanted, neglected, or abused farm animals including horses, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, cattle, and even pot bellied pigs. Nevins Farm also runs an equine ambulance service, as well as a cemetery for pets, a children’s summer camp, and numerous outreach and education programs. Picturedto the right, held by Animal Care Giver and Adoption Counselor Renee Falardeau, stands “Molly,” an eighteen-year-old Thoroughbred mare awaiting adoption as she recovers from an ankle injury.
