WESTFIELD-Children of all ages are invited to wear their Halloween costumes on Friday Oct. 28 for the annual Charles J. Morse Memorial Rag Shag Parade, hosted by the Westfield/West Springfield Lodge of Elks #1481.

The parade, named for the long-time member of the lodge who organized the parade for many years, will step off at 6 p.m. from the Elks’ Washington Street parking lot.

Accompanied by a city fire engine, the costumed children (and their adult escorts) will turn left as they leave the parking lot and immediately turn right on to Franklin Street. At Elm Street, the parade will turn right, then will turn right again at Court Street, and then turn right to Washington Street returning to the Elks Lodge.

While the parade concludes when the children return to the lodge, festivities with refreshments will continue under a tent in the parking lot.

Children will also be given goodie bags and a costume contest is planned in several age groups. Additionally, all of the children in the parade will be entered in a drawing and one boy and one girl will go home with a new bicycle.
