Bill Callahan

Westfield- Bill Callahan born July 14, 1926 to John and Pansy Callahan, passed away peacefully at the Holyoke Soldiers Home on June 7, 2017. Bill was a graduate of Westfield Trade School. He worked as an electrician for Stanley Home Products for many years. Bill was very active in the YMCA with swimming and badminton and traveled to San Antonio Texas for the Senior Olympics, coming home with a silver medal! He and his wife Barbara had a summer cottage on Lake Champlain, VT, where they spent many vacations and summers during his retirement. He met his beloved wife Barbara Ayers in 1946 and married her seven dates later. Bill and Barb were members of the square dancing community where they had many friends. Bill is preceded by Barbara who died in 2003, son William “Chip” in 1964, Sister Dorothy Griffin and Brother Robert Callahan. Bill will be sadly missed by his daughter Marcia Ballhan Orlandi, his granddaughter Ashley Orlandi, his brother Donald Callahan and step granddaughter Lisa Houdson and her family. Special thanks to Gordon and Florence Snyder and the staff at the Soldiers Home for their compassionate care.

The funeral for Bill will be held on Wednesday June 14th at 10:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. A calling hour will be held before the service on Wednesday from 9:30 am till 10:30 am.
