Boil Water Order Lifted

WESTFIELD – Customers of the Westfield Water Resources Department, in the area south of the Westfield River and west of Shepard Street, Smith Avenue, High Street and Southwick Road (Routes 10 and 202) to the Westfield/Southwick corporate boundary (proximate to Stanley Park and Westfield State University), were notified yesterday of the detection of enterococci in a water sample collected from Well #5 on July 2, 2013. Enterococci is a fecal indicator and you were advised to boil water before using, or use bottled water, and to discard items made with tap water collected on or before July 2, 2013. It is no longer necessary to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, food preparation, brushing teeth and washing dishes.
