David Bean

flag  WESTFIELD- (1947-2016)   On May 4th, Dave Bean of Montgomery lost his courageous battle to esophageal cancer, surrounded by his loving family at home. Dave was born in Springfield, MA on June 30th to his late parents Leonard and Roberta (Lyman) Bean. He grew up in East Springfield and graduated from Springfield Technical High School. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and was later drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Korea. In 1983 he started his own land surveying and engineering business, D.L. Bean Inc. in Westfield, MA, which he proudly and successfully ran for 30 years. Despite being a successful businessman, Dave was first and foremost a devoted family man and he cherished every moment spent with his family. He is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Marie (Dowd) Wilson. Dave is survived by his wife of 46 years, Colleen (Wilson) Bean, his father-in-law, Lester Wilson of Holyoke, his sons, Joseph Bean of Raynham, Jeffery Bean of Russell and his daughter and son-in-law Maggie and Cory Ducharme of Montgomery. He leaves seven beautiful grandchildren, who will forever miss their “Papa”, Kyle, Katelyn, Ryan, Emma, Samantha, Addison and Jacqueline. He also leaves his brother Dana Bean and his wife Virginia of Wilbraham, his sister-in-law, Mary Wilson Kibbe and her husband Matt of Sturbridge, his nephews and countless other dear friends and family. A heartfelt thank you to the D’Amour Cancer Center nurses and Dr. John McCann for all the wonderful care. Dave Bean will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dave’s funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Russell Rd., Montgomery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
