David Craig Brayton

FEEDING HILLS-David Craig Brayton, 69, (1948-2017) died Saturday April 08, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  David was born March 06, 1948 in Springfield, MA to the late Harold and Ida (Moriarty) Brayton.  He graduated from Agawam High School class of 1966 and shortly after applied to the Massachusetts State Police.  At the age of 18, David was the co-owner of the Lamp Post Restaurant in Southwick, MA, later working as a mechanic at the Gene Esso Station.  Throughout his adult life he worked in trucking transportation as a dispatcher for Vallerie Transportation in South Windsor, CT and as a Terminal Manager for Vallerie Transportation in Providence, RI.  David logged over 1.5 million miles driving an 18 Wheeler from Boston to L.A.  In addition to his transportation career, David was an organic farmer and a talented carpenter, building some 40 houses in Springfield, Russell, Westfield and South Windsor, CT.  He owned a home on Cottage Street in Southwick, MA which he lifted into the air and dug and blocked a cellar under the house.  Predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters, Marjorie Cobb and Joan Cooper, he leaves his sister, Judith Dickinson and her husband Joel of Granville, MA, his brother Daniel Brayton and his wife Joan of Marblehead, MA, his brother-in-law Fredrick Cooper along with many other family members and friends.
