Dianne A. Cyr

WESTFIELD – Dianne A. (Ezold, Hockenberry) Cyr, 61, and a life long resident of Westfield passed at home, Wednesday, December 19th, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dianne was born in Holyoke, MA on January 13, 1951 to Francis R. Ezold Sr. and Audrey O. (Morin) Ezold, whom both predeceased her.
A 1969 graduate of WHS, was an at-home mom for many years before working as a CNA for the former Buckley Nursing Home in Holyoke. She attended 2 years of schooling at HCC and was employed by Mass Surgical Supply before returning to caring for the elderly with Home Health Solutions of Holyoke until her first diagnosis of cancer in 2005.
Dianne was best known for her amazing culinary skills. She had the ability to cook, bake or can most anything, and was always trying new recipes. Every year she looked forward to planting her flowers around the house and was especially thrilled to have finally gotten her Dogwood tree for her last Mother’s Day. This tree was planted right in her front yard where she could enjoy it most. Knitting and crocheting was also a hobby of hers, and we all have the scarves to prove it! She loved the outdoors and feeding her wild birds, the sun, the beach and Autumn was her favorite season. Dianne loved to take walks, which then included her dog and great companion, Sadie.
She leaves behind a brother, Frank Ezold and his partner Mary Lemelin of Feeding Hills and was also predeceased by her sister, Candice (Ezold) Day in February of this year. Dianne is also survived by her very loving and supportive husband, Jeff Cyr, four sons, James Hockenberry (Christina), of Westfield, Eric Hockenberry (Starr), of Granville, Jeff Hockenberry (former wife Kelly), of Westfield, Marc Hockenberry of Albany, NY. Four daughters, Kristen Figueroa (Tony), of Westfield, Jill Hockenberry of Feeding Hills, Billie Jo Vice (Ron) and Penny Findley, both of Ludlow. 10 grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Dianne’s family would like to give a special thank you to Michael and Gail McCardle, friends and neighbors that had become family many years ago. Thank you for being a constant for all of us. We also need to give a thank you to Suzanne Picard, our hospice nurse, she was an amazing support, as well as the staff of Holyoke VNA Hospice Life Care.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 26th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, Broad Street, Westfield, with a short service Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Southampton Road in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, Dianne would like donations made to the American Cancer Society or the Dana Farber Institute.
