Donald Marsan

flower 2Westfield – Donald Marsan, 80, of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born in Meriden, CT. He was retired from the former Digital Equipment Corp. in Westfield, MA. He was previously employed as a printing compositor in CT. He was an active member in several humane and animal societies. His love and compassion was fighting for the voiceless and defenseless animals.

He leaves behind his loving daughter, Gina Marsan of Springfield, MA and her partner Michael Thompson, his sister, Marjorie Fuellhart and her husband Konrad of Middletown, CT, and his sister, Dolores Slack and her husband Carman of Chester, CT, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his two beloved cats, Fluffy and Lucky who have been cared for by the Westfield Homeless Cat Project in Donald’s absence.

He was predeceased by his mother, Violet (Hyland) Furst, his father, Silva A. Marsan, and his stepfather, Daniel Furst, his brothers, Daniel Furst and Richard Marsan, and his sister, Jacqueline Stocking. He was predeceased by his beloved companion and soulmate of 23 years, Elaine R. LaPointe, who always made him feel loved and brand new. He was also predeceased by his two beloved dogs, Shelby and Shiloh. He was their mentor and protector. They loved him more than they loved themselves. They were his best friends throughout his entire life.

His family would like to thank the staff at the Governor’s Center in Westfield. Their care and compassion made Donald comfortable in his final days.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 13 at 10am at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St, Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours are Thursday, January 12, from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 E. Mountain Rd, Westfield, MA 01085.
