Eleanor Szalankiewicz

WESTFIELD – Eleanor F. (Pasterczyk) Szalankiewicz, 76 of Westfield passed away peacefully on Monday May 25th at Fawcett Memorial hospital in Port Charlotte FL, surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was born in Westfield. She was a graduate of St Mary’s High School and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Francis School of Nursing in CT. Before retiring Eleanor served in many different theaters of the nursing profession, ending her career as a wound care specialist. She was a long time communicant of Holy Trinity Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Rosary Society and the Polish Woman’s Alliance. Eleanor was very proud of her Polish heritage and passed those traditions down to her children. She loved nursing and carrying for others. But above all Eleanor was  a woman that loved her family. She is survived and dearly missed by her husband of 55yrs Bill Szalankkewicz and her three children, here son Kevin Szalankiewicz and his wife Linda of Westfield, her daughter Karen Lanouette and her husband Phil of Westfield, her son Mark Szalankiewicz and his wife Lonnie  of Westfield.  Her four grandchildren, Dan, Kyle, Michael and Rachel Szalankiewicz. Her beloved dog Jadie and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Eleanor was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Frances Pasterczyk and her sister Joann Pitoniak. The funeral for Eleanor will be held on Monday June 1st at 9 am at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 am in Holy Trinity Church, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
