WESTFIELD – A small contingent of Westfield girls’ ice hockey players traveled to Lansing, Michigan this week to take on the nation’s best in USA Hockey’s national tournament.
Lexi Levere, Brittany Kowalski, Katie Neilsen, Madison Pelletier, and Mackenzie Pelletier, all of Westfield, along with several other female hockey players from throughout the region playing for the New England Falcons, were set to compete for a national title against teams from states such as Alaska, Florida, Coloroda, Illinois, Vermont, New Jersey, and New York.
The Falcons, who qualified for the nationals by finishing second in the state last fall, defeated the New Jersey Titans 3-1. In that game, Brenna Hoar scored two goals, Katie Joyal tallied one, and Madison Pelletier had two assists.
The Falcons were expected to compete on into the weekend.
