James L. Warner

WESTFIELD: flagJames L. Warner, 89, of Westfield died Sunday in a local nursing home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rome, NY on January 23, 1927 the son of the late James and Helen (McCarthy) Warner and attended St. Alyosius Academy , graduated from Rome Free Academy and was a 1948 graduate of the Utica School of Commerce. James was an Air Force veteran of WWII. He was employed at Associate Investment Corp. of Utica for seventeen years, and was later employed at Chrysler Financial Corp. for twenty three years, retiring in 1989.He was a member of the Rome Elks Lodge, the Teugega NY Country Club, the Worthington Country Club, the Southwick Country Club, and the American Legion Post of Rome,NY .James was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Doris(Farmer) Warner, two sons, James and his wife Carla of Westfield, and Timothy and his wife Karin of Clarkston, MI, two daughters, Patricia Vachon of Houston, TX, and Julie Kennedy and her husband Michael of Westfield. James also leaves his nine loving grandchildren, Katie Lynn Warner, Emily Warner, Matthew Vachon, Timothy Vachon, Sean Kennedy, Liam Kennedy, Katherine Warner, John Warner, and Ava Warner, a great grandson Ulysses Low , and his niece and nephews, Mary Sharon Brooks, Jeffrey Brooks, and James Brooks of Kansas City, Missouri. He was predeceased by a son James in 1954.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service,76 Broad St. Westfield at 9:30 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 am. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4pm until 7 pm.
