Jarvis nets milestone

WESTFIELD – People may have cherished Saturday’s simply for the good weather, allowing the Westfield High School girls’ lacrosse team the opportunity to host Chicopee Comp. Bombers’ junior Hannah Jarvis had another reason to celebrate.
Jarvis scored six goals, compiled two assists, but more importantly recorded a milestone – her 100th career point – in the process to lead Westfield past Chicopee Comp 20-5.

Sydney Brady tallied four goals and Jordan Kowalski contributed two goals and two assists for the Bombers.

Bombers win thriller
Westfield 3, Bridgewater-Raynham 2

Westfield saved the best for last Saturday, winning the First Annual Commonwealth Classic at Plymouth North High School.
Matt Hastings scored the game-winning run when Mason St. Pierre was hit by a two-out, bases-loaded pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Westfield past Bridgewater-Raynham 3-2.
Hastings reached on a one-out single, advanced to second base when Austin St. Pierre was hit by pitch, moved to third on a Kyle Roberts walk, and scored when Bridgewater’s pitcher plunked Mason St. Pierre.
Westfield led from the outset with an RBI single from Hastings, and tacked on another run on an Aidan Dunn ground out.
Bridgewater scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to set up the late game drama.

Brownies surge past Bombers
Agawam 8, Westfield 7

Agawam rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to nip Westfield Saturday.
Katie Grasso (2-for-3), Maria Moccio (3-4), Emily Fountain (2-4, home run), and Sam Stratton (2-4) led the offensive charge. Grasso also punched out six batters.
Maddie Robitaille (3-for-3, double, 3 RBIs) and Hayley Moniz (2 RBIs) each homered for Westfield. Bombers’ Brittany Kowalski (double), Morgan Zabielski, and Abigail Charvat collected two hits apiece, and Elizabeth Irwin had a hit and RBI.
Moniz also struck out seven on the mound.
