Kathryn A. Moriarty

Westfield – Kathryn (Kathy) A. Moriarty (1946-2016), 70, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on January 8, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Francis P. Moriarty and Teresa (Fitzgerald) Moriarty of Westfield. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1964 and continued her education at Northampton Commercial College. Upon graduation, she was employed as a laboratory secretary at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Later in her career, she returned to the western part of the state to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Court, Springfield District Court as a procedures clerk, retiring in October of 2009. Kathy was a generous and loyal friend to many. All those who knew her admired her strength, courage, and fortitude with which she overcame many adversities in her life. She faced challenges head-on with grace and wit. Her sense of humor and honesty will be deeply missed. Kathy is survived by her three brothers, Francis P. Moriarty of Kent, England, Richard J. Moriarty and his wife Jane of Longmeadow, and John (Gary) G. Moriarty and his wife Janice of Westfield. She also leaves behind her cousins Barbara Frey of East Longmeadow and Marie Flahive of Westfield who both provided her with tremendous care and support through the years. Her many nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great nephews will profoundly miss her as well.

Her funeral will be Thursday, 9:30 AM at the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 84 Main St., followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Maryh’s Cemetery all in Westfield. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory at St. Mary’s Parish School, 27 Bartlett St., Westfield,  MA 01085 or to the Wounded Warrior’s Project, P.O.
