Local Dancers Make Red Carpet

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Two local dancers were presented with a once in lifetime opportunity to perform at the movie premiere of “High Strung” at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

Jade Cloud (16) of Westfield, MA and Haley Huelsman (14) of Madison, CT were the only two contemporary style dancers selected to showcase their skills. Both dancers are on the Elite Pro Competitive Team at New England Dance and Gymnastics Centers in Westfield, MA and are training with the intention of becoming professional dancers in the near future.

Their piece “Weightless,”

choreographed by Hayley Cloud and Ashley Williams, both teachers at New England Dance and Gymnastics Centers, was seen by top industry professionals and broadcast around the world via live streaming.

Cloud and Huelsman were both given a first-hand perspective of what their future may hold.

The dancers were chosen after appearing on the hit T.V. show, “Dance Moms” and were informed that they were selected for the job through a telephone call from the movie writer and producer, Janeen Damien. From there, they had to learn the performed dance routine in less than a week and the team of dancers and choreographers received their only guidance from movie producers, Michael and Janeen

Damien through video conference calls. Having to master the piece’s emotional content also pushed Cloud and Huelsman to new limits. Once in L.A., the girls rehearsed and performed with the live band and musical artist, Chris Burkich.

At the premiere of the movie, “High Strung”, Cloud and Huelsman had the opportunity to walk the infamous red carpet alongside influencial and highly respected member of the dance community.

Paula Abdul, Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman from “So You Think You Can Dance” and co-founders of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, Abby Lee Miller, Dave Scott and numerous others were all there to witness, the dancers’ specular performance.
