Local residents named to spring 2013 Dean’s List at Salve Regina University
NEWPORT, RI– The following hometown residents were named to the Dean’s List during the spring 2013 semester at Salve Regina University:
Kaitlin Chambers of Westfield. Chambers is a senior majoring in Chemistry.
Brigid Sawyer of Westfield, Mass.Sawyer is a sophomore majoring in Political Science-American Gov.
To qualify for the dean’s list, full-time undergraduate students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.6 with no grade below a “B” in that semester.

Hofstra University Recognizes Spring 2013 Dean’s List Students
HEMPSTEAD, NY — More than 2,000 high-achieving students have been named to the Hofstra University Dean’s List for spring 2013. Students who began their studies before fall 2012 must earn at least a 3.4 grade point average to qualify. Those who entered the university after fall 2012 must earn a grade point average of 3.5. Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Herman A. Berliner congratulate these students on their impressive academic achievement.
Local students named to the Dean’s List include:
Keila Sole of Southwick has made the spring 2013 Dean’s List at Hofstra University. Keila, Class of 2013, is majoring in health science.
Sarah Fitzgerald of Westfield has made the spring 2013 Dean’s List at Hofstra University. Sarah, Class of 2014, is majoring in biology.
Alecia Detka of Westfield has made the spring 2013 Dean’s List at Hofstra University. Alecia, Class of 2013, is majoring in public relations.

Erica Lefebvre named to the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor List
GETTYSBURG, PA –Erica Lefebvre, of Granville, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the Spring 2013 semester. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester’s work are placed on the College’s Dean’s Honor List.

University of Rhode Island names more than 3,700 to the spring 2013 Dean’s List
KINGSTON, RI –The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that more than 3,700 undergraduates have qualified for the Spring 2013 Dean’s List. The students represent all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, many other states and more than a dozen countries. The list includes the following students:

To be included on the Dean’s List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.

Christine Wzorek of Westfield was named to the Becker College Dean’s List
WORCESTER—Christine Wzorek was named to dean’s List for spring 2013. Wzorek is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-EQMG.

Assumption College announces Dean’s List
WORCESTER — The following students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester at Assumption College. To make the Dean’s List, Assumption students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Westfield Resident Olivia Almeida graduates from Stonehill College
EASTON, MA– Westfield resident Olivia Almeida graduated from Stonehill College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Thomas Portenstein of Westfield Awarded Degree at Sacred Heart University
FAIRFIELD, CT –Thomas Portenstein of Westfield was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science: Marketing, at Sacred Heart University’s Annual Commencement on May 18th and 19th. Approximately 1,500 graduates received degrees from Sacred Heart University this year.

Joseph Strzempko, of Westfield, earns first academic honors from Clark University
WORCESTER — Joseph N. Strzempko, of Westfield, Mass., has been named to first honors on the Clark University Dean’s List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the spring 2013 semester. To be eligible for first honors, students must have a grade point average of 3.8 or higher, of a maximum of 4.3 (all A+s).

Miami University Awards Degree to Erika Howe
OXFORD, OH –Erika Dominique Howe, of Blandford was among 3,678 students from Miami University who received degrees during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11 at Yager Stadium. Howe received a Master of Science degree .

Local students receive academic awards at American International College
SPRINGFIELD–Students at American Intrernational College were honored for their academic achievement recently during a ceremony in the Griswold Theatre. Friends and families joined faculty and staff for the annual Academic Awards and Class Night.
Marguerite Pratt of Granville, a senior majoring in Physical Therapy (DPT), received the Undergraduate Physical Therapy Award.
Megen Navone of Southwick, a junior majoring in Communications (BA), received the Photography Award.
More than 60 students received awards during the ceremony. Senior Class President Elliot Hardy delivered the welcoming address and Johnni Dideriksen delivered the Ivy Oration.

Corinne Delisle receives Master’s Degree from Frostburg State University
FROSTBURG, MD– Corinne Delisle, of Westfield, recently received a Master of Science degree in Wildlife/Fisheries Biology from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., during its 142nd commencement ceremonies. FSU President Jonathan C. Gibralter conferred nearly 800 undergraduate and graduate degrees at this May commencement.

Alfredo Jesus Esquivar Figuera Graduates From Emory University
ATLANTA, Georgia –Alfredo Jesus Esquivar Figuera of Caracas, received a Master of Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., at its 168th commencement ceremony on May 13.

Olivia Gamble Earns Dean’s Award at Colgate University
HAMILTON, NY — Olivia Gamble was a recipient of the Dean’s Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Gamble is a member of the Class of 2015 and studies Economics. To be eligible for the Dean’s Award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Gamble is a graduate of Westfield High School, and lives in Westfield.
