Westfield resident named to dean’s list
CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Brittany Stefano, daughter of Brian and Jennie Stefano of Westfield, received academic honors at Boston College by making the University’s Dean’s List for the Springsemester 2013 earning First Honors. A freshman at Boston College, Stefano is majoring in Accounting in the University’s Carroll School of Management.
The Dean’s List recognizes the achievement of undergraduates semester by semester. For the classes of 2011, 2012, and 2013 the Dean’s List classifies students into three groups according to semester averages: First Honors (3.700-4.000); Second Honors (3.500-3.699); and Third Honors (3.300-3.499). In order to be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must earn at least 12 or more credits in courses evaluated with a letter grade, excluding the P (pass) grade, and receive a passing grade in all courses.

Local Students Named to Dean’s List at the University of Vermont
BURLINGTON, VT – The following area students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at the University of Vermont:
Sara E. Agan of Westfield, a senior majoring in Radiation Therapy in the College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
Thomas J. Hibert of Westfield, a junior majoring in Environmental Sciences in the Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources.

Granville Resident Matthew Mahoney Graduated from Ithaca College
ITHACA, NY – Matthew Mahoney, a resident of Granville, graduated from Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications with a major in Television-Radio. The degree was awarded in May 2013.

UMass students make Dean’s List
AMHERST – Dean of Students Enku Gelaye has announced the names of students who qualified for Dean’s List for the 2013 spring semester at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In order to qualify, an undergraduate student must receive a 3.5 grade-point average orbetter on a four-point scale.

Lindsay Platt Makes Goodwin College President’s List for Spring 2013
EAST HARTFORD, CT — Tolland resident Lindsay Platt has achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Goodwin College for the Spring 2013 session, earning a spot on the elite President’s List.
The List is the highest academic honor roll at Goodwin College, a nonprofit school that believes that all students are capable of great success academically, professionally, and in their personal lives. Students like Platt exemplify the rigorous work ethic and commitment to education it takes to succeed in higher education.
Goodwin College extends its congratulations to Platt for such a tremendous academic achievement.
To qualify for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled in at least six credits at Goodwin College and earn perfect marks in all classes.

Connor Sheehan Named to Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland
BALTIMORE, MD – Connor Sheehan, a member of the class of 2016 from Westfield, has been named to the spring 2013 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland.
In order to qualify for the Dean’s List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.

Local residents graduate from UMass Lowell
LOWELL – A record number of graduates – 3,169 – were presented with diplomas at UMass Lowell’s 2013 Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 18 at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.
For the second year, UMass Lowell held two Commencement ceremonies because of the increase in graduates – up more than 250 since last year and more than 1,000 since 2007, a period that has seen a 40 percent increase in enrollment and rising retention. It is the sixth year in a row that a record number received degrees.
Both ceremonies were presided over by UMass Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan. The first event honored bachelor’s degree recipients and featured Commencement addresses by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis and student speaker Mary Kathryn Hazel, a history major and Commonwealth Honors Scholar from Chelmsford. The second ceremony recognized recipients of master’s and doctoral degrees, at which Commencement addresses were delivered by UMass Lowell alumnus Harish Hande, a social entrepreneur bringing solar-powered electricity to rural India, and Janet Johnson of Dracut, a recipient of a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies.

Local Students Named to Dean’s List at The College of Saint Rose
ALBANY, NY – The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, today announced that 812 students have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester.
Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List.
The Dean’s List includes the following area students:
