Loss prevention employee caught stealing from Walmart

WESTFIELD – A man hired to protect Walmart”s assets instead stole from the retailer.
After he was caught, Adam R. Tirrell, 30, of West Springfield, admitted to police that he had been stealing from Walmart, located at 141 Springfield Road, for months.
Westfield police interviewed Tirrell on December 22 after reviewing video surveillance footage dating back to mid-December.
Tirrell, who worked as a Asset Protection Associate, had keys to access various locked areas of the store, including the cabinets containing gaming consoles and games, according to Westfield Police Det. Todd Edwards” report.
On December 14 at 8:40 a.m. video surveillance shows Tirrell accessing the electronics” cabinets, taking games, securing them on his person and leaving the store without paying for them, according to Edwards.
Similar behavior is seen twice on December 18 and on December casino 19 with Tirrell taking games and Playstation 4 consoles. The games were valued at $60 each and the consoles at $299 each, Edwards wrote.
In total, Tirrell allegedly stole $1,628.84 in merchandise during December.
Tirrell told police he has likely stolen between $2,500 and $3,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart during the past couple of months.
Police found seven keys to Walmart on Tirrell at the time of his arrest on December 22.
Tirrell was arraigned in Westfield District Court on December 23 and released in lieu of $100 cash bail after being charged with larceny over $250 by single scheme.
He is due back in court on February 1.
