Louis “Lou” Hodgdon

flagWESTFIELD: Louis “Lou” Hodgdon, 82, of Westfield died Saturday in Noble Hospital. He was born in Bethel, Vermont on March 13, 1932 the son of the late Alfred and Gilberte (Lavigne) Hodgdon and was a 1950 graduate of Bennington, Vt. High School. Lou was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Post 124 of Westfield. He moved to Westfield in 1975 and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Lou was employed as an engineer at Rockbestos-Suprenant Co. in East Granby , CT for sixteen years, retiring in 1997, and had previously worked at General Cable in Pownal, VT. He loved golfing with his many Legion friends and attending UMASS basketball games with his buddies Gil, David, and Felix and the late Bill Buzzee. He loved to play cards with his family and his friends at the American Legion and the Sons of Erin. He is survived by ” his Rose”, his loving wife of fifty-five years, Rosemarie (Murdock) Hodgdon , two sons, Kevin of Sacramento, CA, Bradley and his wife Cherie of Westfield, two daughters, Karen Lussier and her husband Brian of Charlton, Kimberly Klaubert and her husband Richard of Franklin, two brothers, Maynard and his wife Anita of North Adams, Merritt and his wife JoAnn of North Carolina, three sisters, Linda Pelczynski and her husband Frank of Adams, Melissa Darling and her husband Andrew of Ohio, and Pamela Eberth and her husband Robert of Richmond, VA. Lou also leaves his ten loving grandchildren, Larry and Nicole (Lussier) Penta of Wakefield, Chase and Dane Hodgdon of New York, NY, Chad, Brandon, Austin and Madison Hodgdon of Westfield, Stephanie and Drew Klaubert of Franklin and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Thursday from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield at 8:30am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:30am. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4pm until 7pm.
