Manuel Tirado

WESTFIELD-Manuel Tirado, 86, a resident of Westfield for the past 10 years, flagand former longtime resident of Puerto Rico, died early Sunday morning, May 24, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and educated in Puerto Rico, one of fourteen children to the late Florencio and Dolores (Viera) Tirado. Manuel was a veteran who served with the Army of the United States during the Korean War and continued the pursuit of his education earning his law degree and C.P.A. degree from the University of Puerto Rico. During his lifetime, he practiced law, operated his own certified public accounting business, and worked as a professor teaching several accounting courses at the University of Puerto Rico for over thirty years, retiring in 1985. Before retiring, Manuel had written and published the book Fundamentos de las contribuciones sobre ingresos de Puerto Rico, used as a university textbook for income tax law and legislation in Puerto Rico courses. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Aida Santiago of Westfield, and his loving daughters, Maria Tirado-Malave and her husband William of Westfield, and Aida Marrero and her husband Angel with whom he made his home in Westfield, 3 grandchildren, Michael and Brian Malave and Angelica Marrero and several of his siblings, all from Puerto Rico. At his family’s request, all services will be private.
