WESTFIELD – Scott Marek, owner of the now defunct Marek Jewelers, is still on the lam.
Police issued a warrant on November 18 for Marek’s arrest after he was accused of stealing customer’s property valued between $5,000 to $10,000.
Marek’s shop at 82 Main Street was cleaned out earlier this week and has an eviction notice from the Office of the Sheriff of Hampden County posted on the door.
The notice is dated November 23 and states that Marek is “forbidden by law to enter premises.”
On November 19, the Westfield City Council revoked Marek’s licenses at their regularly scheduled meeting.
Westfield City Clerk Karen Fanion said that Councilor Ralph Figy put forth the motion to immediately revoke the licenses of Scott Marek, of 51 Kimberly Drive, Enfield, Connecticut, due to the police investigation.

The City Council revoked Marek’s junk dealer and junk collector licenses, which had been issued in 2012, Fanion said.
The licenses will not be reissued. Marek would have to reapply.
On November 11, a larceny was reported in the police logs at 11:16 a.m. regarding Marek Jewelers, located at 82 Main Street, stating, “this is an ongoing investigation.”
Customers brought in items to be repaired or to be sold on consignment, but their items were not getting fixed/returned nor were they receiving money for items that may have been sold, Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe said.
So far, there are six separate counts of larceny over $250 with the cases dating back to February, he said.
“Marek is the nephew of the original owner, George Marek, who owned the shop for a long, long time,” McCabe said.
On November 11, several notes from customers were posted on the door. There were two notes regarding a blue topaz bracelet, one saying, “it means so much to me. It’s from my grand kids.”
Another note says, “trying to retrieve my diamond.”
