Michael Avery

Meriden, CT – Michael Avery, 69, husband of the late Maryellen Peczynski Avery, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home. Born in Westfield, MA, he was the son of Katherine A. Avery and the late Welcome R. Avery, Jr.

Over the years, Mr. Avery had resided in Westfield, MA, White Plains, NY, Manhattan, Miami, FL, Middlefield and Meriden, CT. He graduated from Westfield Vocational High School and was formerly employed by SNET in the IT Department. He was an avid Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan and he enjoyed racquet ball, sailing, cooking and golf.

Besides his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Galica and Kathleen Annino and her husband Chuck, two brothers, John Avery and his wife Carrie and Joseph Avery, his mother-in-law, Mary Peczynski and his brother-in-law, Jack Peczynski.  He is also survived by his nieces Serena Stevens, Alyssa Soto and her husband Chris and Sarah Peczynski and his nephews, Brett Stevens and his wife Gina and Jason Avery. He also leaves several great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was pre-deceased by his father-in-law, Henry Peczynski, his brother-in-law Donald Galica and his nephew Eric Avery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden on Sunday, December 3rd from 1 to 4 p.m.
