North Hall Festival Announces Line Up

HUNTINGTON – The North Hall Arts Festival in Huntington, Mass. announces its 2016 season with eleven public events from late May through September.

Presented by the North Hall Association, the performance series is made possible by the Westfield Evening News and the Daily Hampshire Gazette, along with support from the arts councils of Chesterfield, Cummington, Huntington, Montgomery, Russell, Southampton, Westhampton, and Worthington.

The Festival opens on Saturday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. with its annual Opera Showcase presenting an ensemble of singers with piano accompanist who have performed internationally. A second performance, a matinée at 2:00 p.m., will take place on Sunday, May 29.

The Berkshire Mountain Boys return on Sunday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. with a bluegrass and country music program with autoharp, guitar, banjo and vocals. They are followed by the popular area piano-clarinet duo Jerry Noble and Bob Sparkman on Sunday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Playwright, musician and actor Randy Noojin presents Celebrate Pete Seeger on Saturday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. A repeat performance will be staged on Sunday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m. Noojin portrays Seeger and his era with Seeger’s original music, words and testimony.

Rounding out July, the group Wild Thyme makes its North Hall debut performing Celtic Folk music in the Irish, Scottish, and French tradition. They will take the stage on Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m.

For its theater offering, the Festival stages a reading of D.L. Coburn’s 1978 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game. The free event will take place on Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m.

José González returns on Saturday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. to present a Caribbean Festival for Kids. The interactive performance features Latin Amerian and Caribbean songs along with traditional instruments.
