CHICOPEE – Junior Holly Brouillette (Burlington/Burlington, Mass.) scored three goals for Westfield State as the Owls pruned Elms College by a 7-0 score in the season opener for both schools at Leary Field Tuesday.
Brouillette staked the Owls to a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the contest on a feed from Megan Evans (Enfield/Enfield, CT).
Brouillette returned the favor with just 22 seconds left in the first half, feeding Evans for the goal and a 2-0 westfield lead.

The floodgates opened in the second half with Brouillette adding a pair of goals in the first six minutes of the half to cap her hat trick. Marci Macsata (Enrico Fermi/Enfield, CT) added a pair of goals and freshman Brittany Bowes tallied another for the 7-0 final.
Owls’ juniors goalkeeper Megan Fountaine (Scituate/Scituate, MA) started in goal for the Owls and stopped a pair of shots in 41 minutes of action before she was relieved by junior Alanah Melanson (Chelmsford/Chelmsford, MA), who stopped the lone shot she faced. Westfield dominated the match from a statistical stand point, holding a 27-3 edge in shots on goal and an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners. Jillian Lapponese made 20 saves in goal for the Blazers.
Westfield improves to 1-0 on the season, while Elms is now 0-1. The Owls will next travel to face Western New England next Wenesday, September 9, at 4:00 p.m.
