Pearl Cook

BLANDFORD: Flower ButterflyPearl (Walker) Cook, 94, formerly of Woronoco Rd. in Blandford passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening at the Governors Center in Westfield. Pearl was born in North Brookfield on March 22, 1921 the daughter of the late George ”Red” Walker & Delia (Boucher) Walker. She was raised in North Brookfield, attended schools there and graduated from Spencer High School. Pearl married Horace B. Cook and they resided in Blandford, raising their family, for many years before his passing in 1990 and her moving to Westfield in 2008. Pearl worked at the Liberty Bakery in Westfield, eventually becoming the manager, working there over 25 years before retiring in 1987. She also worked at Camp Overflow in Otis for a number of years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens groups in both Otis and Blandford and often traveled with the group sightseeing. Pearl attended church at the First Congregational Church of Blandford. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace B. Cook, a son; James Cook in 1996 and a grandson; James Jr. in 2007. Pearl leaves her children; Nancy Ackley and her husband Thomas of Blandford, Barbara Bishop of Belchertown and Richard Cook of Suffield, CT. as well as eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a great, great grandson, nieces and a nephew. She was also predeceased by her brother, Allen Walker in 1996. There are no calling hours. A private Funeral service will be held with burial in Hill Cemetery in Blandford. Donations in Pearl’s memory may be made to the Blandford Firemen’s Assoc., 93 Main St, Blandford, MA 01008 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472. The Czelusniak Funeral Home has been entrusted with Pearls’ arrangements.
