Peter Jakobowski

PeteJakobowski12SOUTHWICK – Peter Jakobowski, 81, of Southwick MA passed away suddenly on April 2, 2013 at his son’s home in Deland Florida. He was born on April 21, 1931 to the late Stanley & Agnes Jakobowski.
Peter was the sole owner of Southwick Construction Company for many years. He also worked a short time for Pratt & Whitney but disliked being closed up in a building to work and was soon back outside working construction which made him very happy. After his retirement he worked for Jake Enterprises, JR Sweeping Services and most recently at the Southwick Cemetery. Peter had a great love for the Town of Southwick and served the Town as a volunteer fireman, a planning board member, a fire commissioner, a selectman and was currently serving as a water commissioner.
Peter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethalyn (Tracy) Jakobowski; his daughter, Shirley Mae Morris and her husband Don of Southwick; his daughter, Cindy Jakobowski of Deland Florida; his son, Peter Jakobowski and his wife Gloria of Deland Florida; his daughter, Tracy Meczywor and her husband David of Southwick. He is also survived by 5 awesome grandchildren, Peter Jakobowski Jr, Julie Incillo and her husband Mike, David Meczywor, Stacia Meczywor and Melissa Grady. In June of last year he became a great grandfather for the first time to his super cute “baby girl” Madison Incillo. He also leaves many nieces & nephews. Peter believed that family went beyond bloodlines and encompassed those who became family through love and he had many wonderful extended family members that he loved deeply. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had a chance to know him and love him. Peter was predeceased by his daughter Sherrie Grady, brothers Constant Jakoboski and Stanley Jakobowski, sisters Stella Knebel, Mary Pietruszak, Anna Baltronis, Victoria Skukowski, Lucy Michaud and Katherine Knybel.
Services will be held at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield MA. Peter’s wake will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. His funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his niece, Rev. Linda Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in New Cemetery in Southwick.
