Philip Gusek

purple flowersRUSSELL – Philip Gusek, 61, (1955-2016) an Organist for Holy Family Parish in Russell, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016.  He was the son of the late, Fredrick Gusek and Ruth (Gashnig).  Phil grew up and attended schools in West Springfield before moving to Russell where he lived most of his life.  He was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish in Russell, where he played the organ and also was a Religious Education Teacher.  He was the Superintendent for the St. Thomas Cemetery in Huntington.  He taught piano and organ lessons and also was a piano tuner.  He attended school in Boston for music.   He leaves an aunt, Josephine Gusek of Agawam and five cousins, Robert Gusek, Thomas Gusek, James Gusek, Michael Gusek and Phyllis Wienle.  Phil also leaves his Parish family and friends at Holy Family Parish where he will be deeply missed.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish, 5 Main Street, Russell, MA.  Calling hours will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Family Parish, P.O. Box 405, Russell, MA  01071-0405.  O’Brien Hilltown Funeral Home in Huntington is in charge of the arrangements.
