8:53 a.m.: breaking and entering, Highland View Street, a resident came to the station to report that a window of his van was smashed overnight, the responding officer reports the complainant said that loose coin was stolen from the van;
9:25 a.m.: breaking and entering, East Main Street, a resident came to the station to report that her medications was stolen from her van while it was parked in an East Main Street parking lot, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the vehicle had not been locked when her pills were stolen;
11:36 a.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street home improvement store reports a log splitter has been stolen, the responding officer reports that an employee said that a lock securing a trailer mounted log splitter on display outside the store was cut and the splitter was stolen some time since 3:30 p.m. on Sunday;
12:44 p.m.: arrest, Noble Hospital, 115 West Silver St., a detective reports that the subject of an outstanding warrant was released from the hospital and taken into custody, see story in the Wednesday edition of The Westfield News;
1:00 p.m.: assist other agency, Southampton Road, a code enforcement officer reports that he assisted the health, building and fire inspectors at a visit to a trailer which has been ordered not to be used for habitation, the officer reports the owner was found at the trailer in violation of a court order forbidding his presence in the absence of a city official, evidence was found that the man had been living there, the premises were secured by the health inspector;
1:50 p.m.: found property, Grand Street, a caller reports a green BMX bicycle has been abandoned since Saturday, the responding officer reports the bike was stored for safekeeping;
2:17 p.m.: suspicious person, East Main Street, an off duty officer reports a suspicious person, the responding officer reports a person returned trousers which were later found to have been shoplifted and when the suspect attempted to make another return he was refused, the man left the store and the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped, the operator was found to have a license revoked as a habitual traffic offender, Tanya Y. Jackson, 43, of 69 Dunmoreland St., Springfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as a habitual traffic offender, the car was towed to the police impound yard, the shoplifting aspect remains under investigation;
4:14 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
8:52 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Westfield Shops, 443 E. Main Street, a patrol officer reports that earlier in the evening he had spoke with a group of skateboarders and pointed out a clearly posted “No loitering, No skate boarding, No bicycling” sign and the skateboarders acknowledged that they knew what the sign meant before leaving the area, the officer reports that one returned at the time of the call and a city ordinance violation citation was issued.
