noon: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports a shoplifter has been detained in the store, the responding officer reports the caller said that the elderly woman has several times previously taken a cart loaded with food and other essential living products through a self checkout lane but only paid for some of the merchandise, items with a total value of $140 were recovered, the officer reports the woman was referred to Highland Valley Elder Services, the store management elected not to pursue criminal charges and the woman was served with a ‘No trespassing’ order;
2:48 p.m.: suspicious persons, East Silver Street at Gold Street, a caller reports three boys are in the area and one is playing with fire, the responding officer reports he found one of the boys was attempting to make a torch by igniting spray cologne, the boy was transported to a relative’s home who took custody of him and said that family disciplinary measures would be imposed;
4:17 p.m.: threatening to commit a crime, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report that he has received threatening text and voicemail messages, as well as phone calls, the responding officer reports the complainant said that his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend has threatened to kill him, the officer reports he could not find contact information for the suspect and a warrant application was filed;
5:22 p.m.: fire, Springfield Road, multiple callers reports a food truck parked on the side of the road has a fire under it, the responding officer reports he found that the oil filler cap was not properly emplaced and the dripping oil ignited on the hot engine, the responding firefighters report the fire had been extinguished prior to their arrival, the van was towed to the police impound yard;
6:03 p.m.: accident, Mill Street at West Silver Street, multiple callers report a two vehicle crash, the responding officer asked that the G&E be notified because a vehicle struck a utility pole which then fell down, the officer reports neither operator was injured, both vehicles were towed to the police impound yard;
6:36 p.m.: breaking and entering, Main Street, a caller reports that a relative’s home was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that she had been away for a couple of weeks and returned home to immediately notice that her television was missing, the woman said an inspection revealed that a second television and a DVD player had been stolen, the officer reports that the woman said that her home had been broken into via the cellar once before and fresh pry marks were found on the cellar access door, stereo equipment was found to have been stolen from the common basement, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
11:10 p.m.: officer wanted, Southampton Road, a caller from a taxi company reports that a customer refused to pay the fare, the responding officer reports the customers said that when they entered the taxi they asked the driver if they could pay with a credit card but when they arrived at the motel where they were staying the driver asked for cash, the women said they carry no cash and use a credit card for all business expenses, the women agreed to mail the taxi company a check when they return to Miami, Florida, the women were advised of the potential consequences of failure to make payment;
11:19 p.m.: found property, North Elm Street, an anonymous person came to the station to surrender a wallet found in a North Elm Street parking lot, the responding officer reports a phone message was left for the owner.
