12:32 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop for speeding, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to be suspended, a criminal complaint was filed;
1:45 a.m.: North Elm Street, a caller from a North Elm Street bar reports that a customer appeared to become highly intoxicated after only one drink and he believes the man may be under the influence of an unknown substance, the responding officer reports he spoke with the Pittsfield man who displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was unable to tell the officer of anyone in the city who would care for him in his condition, the man was placed in protective custody;
7:48 a.m.: found property, Cross Street, a caller reports seeing a hypodermic needle near his driveway, the responding officer reports the needle was properly disposed of;
12:07 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a patrol officer reports he was told that there was a handgun in the trunk of a parked vehicle, the officer reports that he and another officer spoke with the owner of the vehicle who immediately said that he had a BB gun in the trunk and showed them a BB gun modeled on a M16, the man said that the gun was in the car because he has small children at home;
1:44 p.m.: accident, Pochassic Road, a caller from a towing company reports a caller said that his vehicle went off the roadway and hanging from a cliff, a dispatcher reports the operator said that a deer ran in front of his vehicle and when he applied his emergency brake his car went off the roadway, the responding officer reports the car was towed back to the roadway and was driven from the scene;
6:28 p.m.: suspicious activity, Springfield Road, a caller reports she observed four teenagers drinking in a car parked at a Springfield Road parking lot, the responding officer reports he observed a partially full 40 ounce bottle of beer in the back seat and the operator, who was of legal drinking age, said that he put the bottle there when he saw the officer, the officer reports the man easily passed a field sobriety test, the officer spoke with the father of an underage female in the car who said that he will address the issue with her when she comes home, a city ordinance violation citation for possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle was issued to the operator;
9:08 p.m.: animal complaint, Holland Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed two large dogs running loose in the neighborhood and observed the house they ran to, another officer advised that the dogs have been seen running loose previously, the officer spoke with the resident who said that the dogs in question were not hers and said that her dog had been on the couch all evening, the officer reports a dog came to the door and he recognized it to be one of the dogs he had seen earlier, a written warning was issued which the resident refused to accept, the officer advised the resident of the possible consequences of future similar incidents.
