Emergency response and crime report

6:14 a.m.: assist other agency, Cabot Road, a caller from the DPW requests police assistance to transport a large loader from Cabot Road to Twiss Street, services rendered;
8:10 a.m.: traffic complaint, South Maple Street at Mill Street, a patrol officer reports a quart of oil was dropped in the roadway and overrun resulting a slick area of the roadway, the DPW was advised and requested to deal with the spilled oil;
11:02 a.m.: larceny, North Elm Street, a resident came to the station to report that property stolen from her home is in a Holyoke pawn shop, the responding officer reports the complainant said that when she left for work her on-again, off-again boyfriend and her computer were at her home and when she returned both were gone, the woman said that the man has substance abuse issues and has pawned her property in the past, the woman identified the Holyoke pawn shop where he usually pawns items and the officer found that the computer in question had been pawned and could be recovered, a criminal complaint was filed;
11:29 a.m.: vandalism, Apremont Way, a Belchertown resident came to the station to complain that his vehicle was vandalized at his workplace, the responding officer reports that the man explained that he had accidentally struck an air compressor at work and the worker who had to repair the tire which was damaged was annoyed, the man said that he left the work site and when he returned found that a tire had been thrown on his personal vehicle causing scratches, the man asked that the incident be documented in case there are additional developments;
11:44 a.m.: parking violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a vehicle without a handicap parking permit displayed was parked in a clearly marked handicap parking space, a parking citation was issued;
1:11 p.m.: incapacitated person, Noble Hospital, 115 W. Silver St., an Agawam municipal employee relayed a call reporting an intoxicated person in the hospital parking lot is combative, the responding officer reports he found two people restraining a third who appeared the be intoxicated, the officer reports that the two people were found to be family members of the third who were trying to induce the woman to enter the hospital for treatment of her alcohol-related issues, the officer reports that the woman repeatedly said that she did not want to go into the hospital and wanted to go home, the officer explained to all parties that if the woman does not wish to enter the hospital and family members are unable to care for her she would be placed in protective custody, the officer reports that the woman repeatedly attempted to walk away until she was placed in protective custody;
1:14 p.m.: animal complaint, State Police Barracks, Massachusetts Turnpike, a caller from the barracks requests assistance with a dog found on the turnpike, the responding animal control officer reports the friendly dog is a female husky mix, black and tan, with one blue eye, found running free on the westbound side of the turnpike, the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter, see 11:46 p.m. entry;
4:52 p.m.: parking violation, Franklin Avenue, a patrol officer reports a vehicle parked facing the wrong direction in a ‘No parking’ zone required that firefighters fold the mirrors of a fire engine responding to a medical emergency in order to pass the parked truck, the officer reports before he continued to the medical emergency scene with the firefighters he advised the operator to move the truck, the officer reports that when he cleared the medical call he returned to find that the operator of the truck had continued to unload it and had not moved it to a legal parking space available nearby, a citation was issued;
11:46 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the director of animal control officer reports she returned to the shelter to release a husky dog found on the turnpike after the vehicle in which it had been a passenger had been involved in a traffic crash.
