7:11 a.m.: vandalism, Pochassic Road, a caller reports equipment at a sand and gravel mine has been vandalized, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
10:25 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to be expired, the pickup truck was towed to the police impound yard;
11:03 a.m.: assist resident, William Street, a resident requests police assistance gathering property from an address he is barred from by a protective order, the responding officer reports the man collected his belongings without incident;
2:16 p.m.: assist resident, Hampden Street, a resident requests police assistance gathering property from an address he is barred from by a restraining order, the responding officer reports the man collected his belongings without incident;
2:33 p.m.: burning complaint, Chestnut Street, a caller reports she can smell burning leaves and suspects a neighbor is burning illegally, the responding fire captain reports the resident was advised to extinguish the fire;
3:20 p.m.: found property, Russell Road, a Huntington resident came to the station to surrender a wallet reportedly found on Route 20, the desk officer reports the owner contacted made arrangements to retrieve her wallet;
5:27 p.m.: weather complaint, White Street, a caller reports a tree is down in the roadway, the responding officer reports the fallen tree brought down wires and the G&E and DPW were notified, both agencies responded and traffic was able to pass the fallen tree, a cable company was notified that the cable line was also affected;
8:20 p.m.: accident, Pochassic Road, a caller reports finding an unoccupied vehicle which had apparently crashed at the end of Pochassic Road, the responding officer reports he spoke with the registered owner at his Southampton Road home and found that the man was highly intoxicated and unwilling to tell the officer who had been in control of his vehicle, the car was not reported to have been stolen;
10:30 p.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, the owner of a pizzeria reports a large amount of cash has been stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that more than $1,000 and perhaps as much as $3,000 is missing and he believes an employee with a history of theft is responsible, the officer was told that the suspect was working until 10 p.m. and is resigning this week, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau.
