4:30 a.m.: breaking and entering, Elizabeth Avenue, a caller reports her granddaughter’s former boyfriend broke into her home while she was sleeping, several officers responded and the caller said that the man had entered through an unsecured door, the investigating officer reports that when the supervisory officer attempted to arrest the man the suspect pushed the sergeant against the wall and struggled with officers until an electronic control device was employed, Brandon White, 21, of 734 Western Ave., was arrested for breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest;
10:15 a.m.: assist other agency, Powder Mill Road, officers were detailed to seek the subject of an involuntary commitment order at the request of Westfield District Court, the responding officers report that the woman was found at her home and transported to the court without incident;
12:25 p.m.: breaking and entering, East Main Street, an off duty officer from another jurisdiction called to report that he observed two people remove power tools from a contractor’s van parked in a home improvement store’s parking lot and place them in their vehicle, the responding officer reports the vehicle was found at a Sycamore Street address and one of the suspects admitted stealing from the van, 10 power tools with an estimated value of $2,531 were recovered, the officer reports that one of the suspects was found to be in possession of heroin and more was found in the vehicle when the contents were inventoried prior to towing to the police impound yard, Michael R. Rossman, 38, of 9 Cleveland Ave., was arrested for breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, larceny of property valued more than $250 and possession of a Class A drug, Daniel Colson, 41, of 9 Cleveland Ave., was arrested for breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime with intent to commit a felony;
1:36 p.m.: arrest, Noble Hospital Emergency Department, Court Street, an officer reports a man, Michael J. Muranko, 36, of 103 Court St., who had allegedly assaulted staff of the emergency department was arrested at the hospital and transported to Westfield District Court without incident;
4:20 p.m.: assist other agency, Elizabeth Avenue, officers were detailed to assist as Department of Children and Families workers took custody of a child, the officers report that a person at the address was found to be the subject of an outstanding probation department warrant, Brandon White, 21, of 734 Western Ave., was found and was arrested on the warrant without incident;
4:32 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports a woman stole a bottle of liquor and fled on foot, the responding officer report a review of the store’s security video allowed staff to identify the suspect and he found the woman at her home, the officer reports the store management agreed to refrain from criminal charges if the woman paid for the vodka and she agreed to comply, the management also asked that the officer serve the woman with a ‘No trespassing’ order and he complied;
8:13 p.m.: larceny, Mullen Avenue, a resident reports via the online reporting option that he found several fraudulent debits on his bank account;
8:21 p.m.: identity theft, Beckwith Avenue, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a tax return was fraudulently filed with his personal information.
