Emergency response and crime report

12:34 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at 55 mph in a 40 mph zone and stopped the car, the operator’s license was found to be suspended, criminal complaints were filed and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
1:28 a.m.: well-being check, Broad Street, a caller reports a college-aged youth who appeared to be intoxicated and displayed what appeared to be minor injuries such as those which might be inflicted by a physical confrontation asked for directions to Westfield State University and was last seen walking on Broad Street, the officer reports he encountered the young man and provided him with a courtesy transport to the WSU campus where he was surrendered to the custody of his roommate;
4:07 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., Westfield State University police request the use of a cell for a prisoner in custody, a cell monitor was provided;
9:27 a.m.: motor vehicle theft, Sandy Hill Road, a caller reports a pickup truck was stolen from his locked garage, the responding officer reports the caller said there were no signs of forcible entry but the truck is gone;
9:42 a.m.: breaking and entering, Southampton Road, a caller reports a stereo system was stolen from a Southampton Road restaurant, the responding officer reports the caller said that more than $1,000 in cash was also stolen, the officer reports there were no signs of forcible entry and the case was referred to the Detective Bureau where it remains under investigation;
10:35 a.m.: motor vehicle theft, Union Street, a resident came to the station to report her vehicle was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the car had been stored for the winter but was known to be in place on Thursday, the vehicle was found to be missing on Friday, see 9:14 p.m. entry;
10:44 a.m.: breaking and entering, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union Street, a resident came to the station to report her vehicle was entered and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant and said that she stopped briefly to visit a relative and while she was inside her unsecured car was entered and her cell phone and purse were stolen;
11:57 a.m.: assist resident, Springfield Road, a caller requests an officer to stand by while he recovers property from his former wife, the responding officer reports the domestic violence coordinator had arranged the meeting and the man recovered most of his possessions without incident;
1:46 p.m.: animal complaint, a caller reports his girlfriend was bitten by a dog, the responding officer reports the victim was outside as three teenaged youths approached walking a dog, the officer was told that the dog pulled away from a youth and jumped on the woman biting her arms repeatedly, the woman was taken privately to hospital where she was treated and released;
3:42 p.m.: larceny, Coleman Avenue, a resident came to the station to report he has found what he believes to be items which had been stolen from him offered for sale on an Internet site, the responding detective reports that the crime had been reported previously and his investigation is ongoing, the detective came to the station to speak with the reporting party;
9:14 p.m.: recovered motor vehicle, Springfield, a Springfield police officer reports a vehicle reported to be stolen in Westfield has been recovered in their city, the owner was notified.
