6:35 a.m.:
assist other police department, Hawks Circle, Springfield police request assistance to serve an arrest warrant, services rendered;
9:26 a.m.: arrest, Noble Hospital, 114 West Silver St., officer reports the subject of two warrants, Joseph R. Franzen, 28, of 300 East Main St., taken into custody;
12:01 p.m.: trespassing, Ellis Street, resident reports a man came onto the calling party’s property and took a container of deposit cans and bottles and that it is an on-going problem, officer reports area search negative;
12:43 p.m.: larceny, William Street, citizen came to the station to report the theft of fishing equipment he had stored in his boat, reporting party identified a subject of interest in the theft, officer reports incident under investigation;
1:49 p.m.: suspicious activity, Barnes Airport, Air National Guard security requesting an officer to investigate subject, officer identified the subjects as subcontractors working for Sprint, services rendered;
2:47 p.m.: suspicious activity, Drenen Tax Service, 89 South Maple St., caller reports man lurking in shrubbery, officer reports that the man was located and identified, he had been spying on his girlfriend who resides on the abutting property, subject advised not to lurk in the shrubbery and sent on his way;
4:50 p.m.: property found, BNH Services, 206 Elm St., citizen brought an antique Firtion Hollister sign to the station, property turned over to Firtion Adams Funeral Services;
5:59 p.m.: suspicious activity, Pineridge Drive neighborhood, citizen reports subjects going door-to-door attempting to sell gift cards for half of the shown value, officer reports area search negative;
7:04 p.m.: motor vehicle fire, dual police and fire response, Wendy’s Restaurant parking lot, Southampton Road, caller reports his 2001 Ford Explorer is engulfed in flames, caller reports that he was traveling on the Massachusetts Turnpike when smoke began to come from the engine compartment and exited the turnpike to check the engine, as he exited the vehicle and flames burst from the engine compartment, Engine 3 extinguished the fire;
8:39 p.m.: motor vehicle accident, Union Street, caller reports a green pickup struck several metal poles and continued traveling toward Route 20 (Springfield Road), vehicle has significant front-end damage , officer investigation accident;
8:34 p.m.: assist other agency, a bail bondsman came to the station seeking assistance in apprehending a subject of a warrant in Connecticut, bondsman had no documentation, officer reports contacting Enfield, Conn. police who issued the warrant, Enfield had not obtained a letter of extradition needed to take the subject into custody, officer applied to the court for a fugitive of justice warrant;
9:07 p.m.: larceny, Noble Hospital, 115 West Silver St., citizen reports she gave her ATM card to a man to withdraw $300 for the down payment on an apartment, but the man withdrew $600 instead, detective reports speaking with the reporting party and advising her to seek a civil resolution through district court.
