6:26 a.m.: Disturbance, Southampton Road. Police received a report from a walk-in party who claimed that someone had attempted to steal his car around Southampton Road and Servistar Industrial Way. Police investigated the incident and found that it was reportedly a road rage incident where the other party became verbally aggressive with the reporting party and exited his vehicle, threatening to pull the reporting party out of their car if they see them again. No charges were filed.

12:47 p.m.: Larceny, Westfield Technical Academy, Smith Avenue. Police received a report of aluminum that was stolen from a shop at the high school. No further information was provided.

3:30 p.m.: Breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, East Main Street. Police received a report of a male that had attempted to break into a Lexus vehicle but was caught. The owner of the vehicle had reportedly confronted Michael Ferriter, 55, of Westfield, after finding the mirror and handle of the vehicle torn off of the vehicle. Police later reported that the two became physical with one another but police arrived shortly after, arresting Ferriter and charging him with malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

4:18 p.m.: Larceny, North Elm Street. Police received a report that an employee at a store on North Elm Street reportedly stole lottery tickets from the store and that the action was caught on video. Police arrived to the store and a criminal complaint was filed, but there was no arrest made.

4:58 p.m.: Burglary and breaking and entering, West School Street. Police received a report from a resident at an apartment that said her apartment appeared to be broken into. The resident reported that the back door was kicked in and the heat had been turned off. Additionally, while investigating the property police reported that a window in the basement had been broken and there was some flooding in the basement. Police reported that this property was property involved in a prior rental scheme.
