1:53 a.m.: traffic complaint, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a male party riding a skateboard “smack dab in the middle of the right lane” of North Elm Street, the officer reports the youth was stopped, identified, advised to use the sidewalk and “encouraged to use the skateboard in a more feasible atmosphere and a more feasible time”;
10:05 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports he was advised of an assault at the school, the SRO reports he found that a female pupil had been upset to discover that her boyfriend had been in contact with his former girlfriend and the two girls, who do not usually have reason to be in direct contact, found themselves in the same classroom, at the end of the class the current girlfriend confronted the former girlfriend, the first girl later admitted to a school administrator that she pulled the hair of her boyfriend’s former girlfriend and then punched her face twice, a criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed;
10:08 a.m.: vandalism, Little River Road, the desk officer reports that a male party came to the station to complain that between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. his lamppost was vandalized, the officer reports the complainant said that the post was snapped off at the base and will need to be replaced;
10:15 a.m.: accident, Elm Street, a caller reports that he was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing Elm Street in a crosswalk, the responding officer reports the victim said that a vehicle failed to yield to him and struck his knee causing him to roll over the hood of the car, the man said that the female operator stopped and lowered a window but left without speaking with him, the victim provided a registration number and a description of the vehicle, the victim declined medical assistance at the scene but later took himself to Noble Hospital for treatment;
10:36 a.m.: breaking and entering, Mechanic Street, a detective reports that he was advised of a breaking and entering larceny which occurred in late July or early August, the detective’s investigation is incomplete;
5:46 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be revoked for lack of insurance, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:57 p.m.: illegal dumping, White Street at Main Street, a caller reports a male party removed a mattress from his tractor-trailer unit and dumped it into a rubbish receptacle at a laundromat, the man reportedly entered the facility to do his laundry, the responding officer reports the man removed the mattress from the receptacle;
8:32 p.m.: disturbance, Katharine Street, an off-duty office reports that an intoxicated male party created a disturbance inside a fraternal organization and threw something at a mirror which broke it, the responding officer reports that the man had left the area prior to his arrival, the officer was told that the management of the club will pursue criminal charges only if the man fails to make restitution.
