12:28 a.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he entered a convenience store and observed a large knife protruding from a customer’s pocket, the officer advised the man to keep his hands where they were and removed the knife, the officer reports that the knife was found to be a double edged weapon prohibited by law and was seized, no charges were filed;
1:40 a.m.: assist resident, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports he encountered a female party walking in the middle of the road, the officer reports the woman said that she was walking home after an argument with a friend in a West Springfield bar, the woman requested a courtesy transport to her Broad Street home and the officer reports he accommodated her for her safety;
9:30 a.m.: annoying phone calls, Notre Dame Street, a resident reports via the online reporting option that she has been receiving annoying phone calls;
11:55 a.m.: traffic complaint, Feeding Hills Road, the Traffic Bureau commander reports complaints were received about civilian flaggers working at a construction project on Feeding Hill Road, the certifications and attire of the workers were checked and found to be in order;
5:17 p.m.: building check, Dartmouth Street, a caller reports a door to the vacant Moseley School is wide open, the responding officer reports that the building was checked and no persons were found inside, a building inspector responded and secured the door;
5:26 p.m.: found property, Crown Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a wallet found above her ceiling tiles, the responding officer reports he was unable to contact the owner of the wallet which was stored for safekeeping;
7:19 p.m.: assist citizen, Southampton Road, a caller requests an officer to ensure the peace is kept when she takes custody of a child, the responding officer reports the woman picked up the child without incident;
7:55 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Sp0ringfield Road, a patrol officer reports he encountered a vehicle operating with plates attached which had been issued to another vehicle, the operator’s license was found to be suspended and the car was towed to the police impound yard, criminal complaints for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and attaching plates were filed;
8:32 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports a shoplifter in the store, the responding officer reports that the suspect was accosted after he left the store but he refused to cooperate and resisted efforts to take him into custody, Robert Racco, 24, of 731 Holyoke Road, was arrested for shoplifting by asportation and for resisting arrest;
8:44 p.m.: vandalism, Western Avenue, a caller reports her mailbox was damaged by a person in a passing vehicle with a bat, the responding officer reports a search of the area did not yield a suspect;
9:13 p.m.: suspicious person, Pine Hill Cemetery, a caller reports a suspicious vehicle in the cemetery, the responding officer reports he encountered a cemetery employee who said that he was working to discourage vandalism on Cabbage Night;
10:04 p.m.; suspicious activity, Wild Flower Circle, a caller reports that people in a vehicle in the area are throwing eggs at houses and throwing toilet paper in yards, multiple callers make similar reports but the responding officer reports no suspicious vehicles were found;
10:43 p.m.: disturbance, Chapel Street, a caller reports 25-30 people are at a college-aged party, the responding officer reports that 50-75 guests were dispersed and the tenants were advised of options to take if a party starts getting out-of-control, the officer reports that, after a review of previous complaints, charges were filed.
