Emergency Response and Crime Report
Friday, Sept. 13, 2013
1:06 a.m.: disturbance, Washington Street, a caller reports three men are fighting, the responding officer reports he found that the altercation apparently began when a pedestrian made a rude gesture to a motorist who circled around and came back to confront the two men who invited him to fight, the officer reports the two pedestrians were too intoxicated to battle effectively and no real fight occurred, the two pedestrians were placed in protective custody;
8:25 a.m.: suspicious person, Southampton Road, a school resource officer reports that a pupil’s mother told him that a suspicious man had been at her daughter’s bus stop, the SRO reports the girl said that an unknown man drove past and pointed at her before turning a corner and perhaps parking, the girl said she left and went back to her home to tell her mother and thus does not know what the man did;
10:11 a.m.: arrest, Elm Street, an Elm Street merchant reports that a customer who is believed to have stolen a briefcase in the store the day before has returned, the responding officer reports that the man does not appear to be involved in the theft but was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Angel M. Ramos, 41, of 104 Meadow St., was arrested on the warrant;
12:03 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the director of animal control operations reports that a tri-colored beagle puppy was born at the shelter;
12:27 p.m.: vandalism, Mechanic Street, a caller reports that a rock was thrown through a window of her apartment the night before, the responding officer reports the caller said that she and her boyfriend were both absent for about an hour and when her boyfriend returned he found a window in the apartment had been shattered by a rock;
2:55 p.m.: fraud, Union Street, a resident came to the station to report that his information was used to open an online payment account, the responding officer reports the caller said that he has been contacted by a collection agency which is dunning him for arrears in a account with a company he said that he has never done business with, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
8:44 p.m.: arrest, Belmont Street, officer detailed to attempt to execute a warrant reports the subject was found at her last known address, Kristen N. Hackett, 27, of 13 Belmont St., was arrested on two warrants without incident;
9:57 p.m.: fraud, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a resident came to the station to report that she has been defrauded in a transaction with an online auction site, the responding officer reports that the crime did not occur in the local jurisdiction, the police in Los Angles, Calif., were notified;

Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013
1:39 a.m.: disturbance, Jefferson Street, multiple callers report a disturbance which may include a physical altercation, the responding officer reports he spoke with a resident who said that her husband was intoxicated and involved in a dispute with a neighbor, the man was placed in protective custody;
2:27 a.m.: assist citizens, two officers report that they assisted four persons who were lost and provided them a courtesy transport to Westfield State University;
10:24 a.m.: vandalism, Birch Bluffs Drive, a caller reports her car was vandalized, the responding officer reports a name was scratched into the paint of her car;
10:40 a.m.: found property, Pleasant Street, a resident came to the station to report a decorative windmill was found in his yard, the responding officer reports the man said that the he observed college-aged youths carrying the windmill on Pleasant Street who dropped it and fled when he called to them, the officer reports the windmill was returned to the house on the corner of Washington and Court streets;
12:45 p.m.: disturbance, Meadow Street, an open 911 call was received and the dispatcher reports that although nobody spoke a male party could be heard in the background who became increasingly agitated, the responding reports he spoke with a resident who said that her intoxicated husband had twice pushed her, the officer reports Javier Burgos, 43, of 44 Meadow St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
2:25 p.m.: recreational vehicle complaint, Sgt. T.M. Dion Way, ATV patrol officers report they encountered three persons unloading recreational vehicles and advised them that ATV use is prohibited in the area, the three men left without incident;
3:42 p.m.: animal complaint, Washington Street, a person came to the station to surrender a white bichon frise dog, an animal control officer was notified;
3:59 p.m.: illegal burning, Mather Street, a caller reports she can see and smell smoke coming from the site of a fire earlier in the week, the responding firefighters report persons were attempting to burn debris remaining after a structure fire, the fire was extinguished;
5:39 p.m.: fire, Massachusetts Turnpike, state police request fire response for an automotive fire at mile marker 30, the responding fire captain reports the vehicle was fully involved upon their arrival but the occupants had exited safely, the fire was extinguished and Blandford firefighters arrived to assist;
5:48 p.m.: disturbance, Western Avenue, a caller reports her son stabbed her ear with a fork, the responding officer reports the victim said that her son assaulted her during an argument and left the residence, a search of the area did not yield a suspect, a warrant application was filed, officers sought the suspect at an Agawam address and found him on their second visit to his Broad Street home at 8:16 a.m. Sunday, Daniel Patrick Donovan, 27, of 59 Broad St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
10:09 p.m.: larceny, City Hall, 59 Court Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a male party rummaging through a rubbish receptacle, the officer found that the man had removed some pieces of pipe he said he was going to use at his welding job but was advised that he was stealing, the property was returned and he was sent on his way;
11:31 p.m.: disturbance, Washington Street, a caller reports 20-30 persons are involved in a fight in a residential unit and hallway, the responding officer reports he found 60-80 persons at a party in a two-room college residential unit and the 19-year-old host spoke to the officers with a can of beer protruding from a pocket, the gathering was dispersed, criminal complaints were filed charging the tenants with disturbing the peace, Samuel Langston, 19, of 19 Meadow Brook Lane, South Easton, was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor.
