My observations in my travels around town, I see new houses and new and/or expanding businesses, isn’t that contributing to the tax base. Also, I thought real estate taxes were limited by Proposition 2-1/2, thereby limiting increases to no more than 2-1/2 % at any given year. Raising taxes and then privatizing services the City has forever provided for and through taxation, only to avoid and pass those additional costs to property owners that will have no way of ever controlling, I feel will be under the table and unfair.

To the editor and the people of Westfield: My home was broken into—not only did this scumbag steal my grandmother’s wedding & my mother’s jewelry, cash of course, my son’s baptism ring, silver coins, but they also stole items I had brought back from my service in Vietnam 50 years ago. You can hide things, lock your doors and windows—but these scumbags want to take what you have they will get in. Be aware, good people, there are thieves lurking out there, yes even in Westfield.
