The 4th of July: What could be more American than celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks, family and friends getting together for a great time and great food! For generations residents of Westfield have gathered at the dike off Orange Street, at the Westfield High ball field or at Stanley Park! However, this year it seems that NIMBYS (not in my back yard) have ruined our 4th because they don’t like the noise and the traffic! There is going to be a big problem in Westfield this 4th of July! You see you cannot take away a celebration from 10,000 residents without creating bad feelings! Instead of a safe 4th an unsafe 4th will be created with illegal fireworks going off all over Westfield. Our police department will be unable to quell illegal fireworks and there will be many arrests because of stupid NIMBYS! The really bad part of an illegal 4th of July is that many people will be injured and Noble Hospital’s ER department will be overwhelmed! This may turn out to be the worst 4th of July in Westfield’s history! Please return a safe legal 4th of July celebration to our city!!! Wow, you really have not read the articles we’ve done on this subject. The decision to stop the fireworks had nothing to do with nearby residents but was made by the two sponsors, Westfield Rotary Club and Stanley Park. The City is looking for a new location, however, current firework restrictions are making it very difficult to find such a location. As soon as a decision has been made, either way, The Westfield News will have it.

Hi I’m wondering why they don’t put a light on the bottom of Springdale. In the afternoon between 3 and 6 o’clock there might be a hundred cars in line coming down the hill very frustrating.
