PulseLine: Councilor raises

To get the full effect of the PulseLine, listen to the calls at thewestfieldnews.com.

Seriously? The City Councilors want a 30% raise? From $10,000 to $13,000 IS A 30% INCREASE!! Don’t be fooled by the “1.65% increase” one councilor was quoted as saying. Do the math yourself, every year is about a 3.5% increase over the previous year based on the proposed step raises. Add that onto the $2.9 million the school dept needs to level fund and the use of free cash so as not to increase property taxes and we are all screwed next year. Oh, and don’t forget, it’s an election year so come September and October when they are asking for your vote and telling you they held the homeowners property tax level, remind them of their 30% pay increase. 30%. Did I mention yet the 30% pay increase? If our councilors like the pay in those other communities that were in the article, then move there! Public service is about serving the public not about making money. And lastly, don’t forget about the city funded health care for those part time city councilors.
