I am furious with this mayor and city council. Tax and spend, tax and spend. The city has 12 million dollars in reserves and they are doing everything possible to spend it instead of giving us taxpayers a needed break. I watched the meeting on the computer. I liked the contrast between the public speakers. That Eddie Haskel guy was obviously a buddy of the mayor’s. The discussion about the 1.6 million dollar tax increase was horrendous. Credit goes out to Christopher Keefe, Mary O’Connell and David Flaherty for trying to explain things and for voting against raising everybody’s taxes. Mr. Flaherty, you’re a little too tight with those computers. Brian Hoose just doesn’t get it. What planet is he living on? Christopher Crean, tax increase, really? Brian Sullivan, you had me going there for a bit. Cindy Harris, Mrs. “No Tax Increase for Residents” actually voted for a million dollar tax increase. What’s she thinking!? Mary O’Connell zings Brent Bean, Bean yells at O’Connell, O’Connell snaps back. Bean repeatedly yelled at her like she was a misbehaving child “Do you understand me!!!!”. She’s old enough to be his mother. She should be treated with a little more respect. In my book, Bean certainly owes O’Connell an apology. He lost it. Bean terminates the meeting and forces a vote while councilors are still asking questions. What? Vote goes 7-6 the wrong way. One vote made the difference. An extra minute or two of debate may have saved us over a million bucks. Bean ends the meeting muttering “Thank God this is my last meeting”. Hear, hear. He didn’t say where he’s going, but maybe he’ll take a couple of the others with him.
