PulseLine: Politically Correct & Driving

A comment on our time and their distractions: Politically Correct… If we get rid of politically correctness does that mean that soldiers no longer have to say come to attention, salute and say sir. We do not have to stand at events, salute the flag, (after all it represents GOVERNMENT), talk during the National Anthem, and no more pledge of Allegiance? Or, do not have to call our boss, boss or Mr., just call the boss Johnny, or Janie? And bosses can go back to calling a 35 year old employee boy or girl? No more Reverend or father, but hey you in the skirt? No more uses of titles, as Your Honor to a Judge, or Senator, or Congressman? Just hey Pete, Hi Carrol? Executives are now Bobby and Kate? No more Mr., or Mrs. to teachers, or any adult? Maybe just: hay shorty, or fatty?

Be careful what you wish for. Look at why it came about…The origin were to separate the superior from the inferior in Old World Class and caste based society, and social order. And, to engage in a Sociological control of the lower members of society. While I agree PC has gotten carried away. But, being civil is important. But, not servile. And, not used abusively to demean others you consider inferior. I remember growing up as I have said being involved in civic and civil affairs, being told you can’t know what will work, as I was from a working single mom, non-prestigious family from So. Holyoke. Or, that if I argued a case and even was right I should respect my “Betters”.

Driving is this City has become dangerous and crazy.  People drive too fast and most drivers tail gate.  When there are numerous  three and four car; chain reaction accidents;  this is a major problem.  Something has to be done before someone gets killed.   I’m reaching out to Mayor Sullivan and Captain McCabe to have more traffic patrols and to SLOW PEOPLE DOWN.   Thank You for the Pulse Line.
