Resident robbed at gunpoint

WESTFIELD – A city man was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of his apartment complex late Thursday evening and was left with his hands tied when the robbers fled, police report.
A Southwood Acres resident called 911 at 10:57 p.m. Thursday and reported that he had been approached in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 342 Southwick Road by two black men wearing black hooded sweatshirts and surgical masks.
Officer Gary Hagar was the first officer to arrive and was quickly joined by four other officers.
Hagar reports that the victim said that the men came up to him after he parked near his apartment and one of them showed him a silver colored handgun and stole his wallet before they bound his hands and fled in a vehicle. He described the men as skinny in stature with short hair.
Sgt. Jeffrey Baillargeon reports that the getaway car may have been an older green Honda seen in the parking lot about a half hour earlier and police in Southwick and other nearby communities were notified. A vehicle which fit the description was stopped by an officer on Little River Road but released when it was found to be occupied only by a female operator.
The victim said that the two men told him to wait five minutes before seeking help. He said that after his assailants drove away and he made his way back to his apartment where his roommate cut the zip tie which was binding his wrists.
