Rose Pighetti

Rose Marie (Pais) Pighetti passed away peacefully on October 11, 2014 at The Governor’s Center in Westfield, MA. She was the daughter of Marie (Pignatare) and Ottavio Pais.   Rose was born on January 18, 1913, in Westfield. She was a life-long resident of the city and attended schools there, graduating from Westfield High School in 1932. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Fioravante, in 1960, and her beloved son, Daniel, in 2007. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Silvio, Ugo, and Guido Pais. Rose is survived by her sister, Perina Brendolan of Jupiter, FL; her son, David and his wife Lois of Westfield; her son Allan and his wife Sue of Westfield; her daughter-in-law Rose of Westfield; her grandchildren Stephen, Tony, Michael, Heather, Dawn, Kevin, Diane, Karen, and Evan; and her great-grandchildren David, Mark, Andrew, Gracie, Ethan, Ashton, Lauren, Brooke, Leah, Anthony, Nicholas, Michael, Mia, Avery, Olivia and Liam; and many nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Rose. She loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren more than anything else in the world. Rose was an amazing cook who loved to prepare authentic Italian meals to feed her family and friends. She was also an avid gardener who kept a beautiful garden in her backyard; she loved teaching others about flowers and plants. Rose loved to talk about her family and share stories of her childhood to entertain her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. She was a giving, generous, selfless, and loving woman who sacrificed her own needs to take care of others. She spent years babysitting her grandchildren and teaching them how to love others and the importance of family. She was the matriarch of the Pighetti clan. Rose was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality and volunteered much of her time to help around the church. Her Catholic faith was a significant part of Rose’s life, and she had a close relationship with God. She taught her children and grandchildren the essence of the Christian faith, and she led by her example. She accepted all people for who they were and embraced them with loving arms. She was loved dearly by all who knew her. Her family would like to thank the staff at Governor’s Center for their loving nature and care given to Rose and her family. Rose’s funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM from the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Rites of Committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
