Southwick COA now on social media

SOUTHWICK – Southwick’s seniors are getting connected via social media.
Council On Aging Director Cindy Sullivan created a Facebook page and Twitter account this week for the COA. Sullivan said more and more seniors – and their families – are using social meeting to keep in touch.
“I hear them talking about keeping up with their grandchildren on Facebook and email,” Sullivan said of the Southwick Senior Center participants.
Sullivan also hopes using social media will attract younger seniors to the center.
“I’ll post when we have parties and classes and people can ask questions about our programs,” she said.
The COA calendar is available on the town website for the public to view, and residents of Southwick age 60 and older receive a monthly COA newsletter. Sullivan said anyone who is a 60-year-old resident of the town who does not receive the newsletter should contact the COA to be added to the distribution list.
Sullivan said any senior who needs assistance setting up Facebook or Twitter accounts can ask for help at the COA. Like the COA’s Facebook page Southwick Senior Center/Council on Aging, and follow the COA on Twitter @southwickcoa.
