SOUTHWICK – A town man suffered serious injuries in a vehicular crash on Point Grove Road late Friday morning.
Southwick police report that a 2005 Chevrolet Impala and a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica collided in the intersection of Point Grove Road and Sheep Pasture road shortly before noon and the operator of the Impala, Joseph Campbell, 33, of Point Grove Road was trapped in his vehicle.
Southwick firefighters responded and 15 firefighters used hydraulic equipment to extricate Campbell from his vehicle.
Campbell suffered injuries that warranted treatment at the trauma center at Baystate Medical Center and Westfield firefighters were asked to assist with the transport, as Southwick firefighters do not have advanced life support capabilities on their ambulances.
Campbell was transported by a Westfield ambulance to the trauma center where he was admitted.
Campbell had been discharged from the hospital by this morning.
The operator of the Pacifica, Thomas M. Hawkins, 30, of Noble Street in Westfield, suffered minor injuries and was not transported to hospital.
