Stanley Miller

Westfield: flagStanley Miller, 94, of Westfield died peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was born in Westfield on August 7, 1921, the son of the late Peter and Valeria Miller, and was a 1941 graduate of Westfield High School. He attended aviation machinist school and joined the Navy, serving in WWII. Stan was employed at Strathmore Paper Co. as a machinist for forty-six years, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a charter member of the Russell VFW, and a member of the Cribbage League of Westfield. He enjoyed fly fishing, golfing, and sports.  Stan is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Phyllis Miller and his two daughters, Martha Korostynski and Christine Fouche.  Stan also leaves three loving grandchildren, Caitlin Scannell and her husband Timothy, Kylie Hanify and Paul Fouche, and two great-grandchildren, King”stan” and Briar Rose. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:30AM to 11:30AM. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Genesis HealthCare of Westfield, payable to GenesisHCC@WESTFIELD Center, c/o Resident Activities, 60 East Silver St., Westfield, MA, 01085 in honor of the love they gave him while he was in their care. firtionadams.com
